And that's how it started. My name is Stephanie Cannon. My dad, Steve Cannon, kept bees for pollination in the late 80s. He gave it up because of time constraints while running a full-time pool business. So, when I randomly decided I wanted to take a beekeeping class in 2024, dad's inner beekeeper came back to life with a vengeance! Little did I know what that meant for me! We currently have six thriving hives producing an incredible 132 pounds in their first season. Our hope, as we expand, is to establish ourselves as a local, trusted Italian Queen rearing supplier along with Italian Honey Bee Nuc sales, and many other honey products and supplies.
My pop pop, Virgil A. Cannon, of Bridgeville, DE said that "someone was always belly achin' about something".. and that's what they referred to their home as. So, as an homage to him and my grandmom, Margaret "Emily" O'Bier Cannon, I asked dad if we could name the bee farm "Belly Acres".
